BABC 2019 Brits in the Bay Offered Valuable Perspectives on Tax, Immigration and More

02 May, 2019

This April, we were honored to be a platinum sponsor for the 2019 Brits in the Bay event, hosted by the Northern California chapter of the British American Business Council.

The BABC set up a lively get together, which included a panel of experts on tax, immigration law, banking and UK pensions for British expats living in the Bay Area. The panelists included Anthony Amodei, a Tax Manager at Spott, Lucey & Wall, Inc. CPAS, James Maycock, a Managing Partner at immigration law firm E&M Maycock and Florin Pensions’ CEO and Founder, Emma Cockerton.

With a background in law and risk management, Emma Cockerton has a wealth of knowledge in financial planning for Brits living and working in America. Emma’s speech focused on the UK’s newer flexible retirement benefit options and the increasing impact of the UK’s Lifetime Allowance tax charge on people’s UK pension pots.

The assembled experts discussed a range of other relevant topics, including immigration law, with advice on how to obtain a green card and whether or not expats should declare worldwide assets and income when filing for a tax return.

Our friends at the BABC continue to provide expats with exceptional resources, leaving Bay Area Brits feeling more secure in their immigration status, tax planning and future finances.
